Magic City Acceptance Academy (MCAA), the first LGBTQ+ affirming school in the Southeast, partnered with Farrismarie Properties, a local multi-family and commercial developer, to develop a facility for their Title I, non-profit public charter school for grades 6-12. MCAA provides a brave and positive learning environment for students who often have a history of isolation from family and friends, being bullied, depression, non-affirming home environments, and learning disabilities. Many students are looking for a new learning environment that is based in trauma-informed care. MCAA’s charter currently allows for up to 490 students. Approximately half of MCAA’s students receive free/reduced lunch and about 40% are People of Color. MCAA also provides comprehensive mental healthcare services to students, staff and parents.
