The mill closure had a significant impact on this small, rural community, including the loss of 150 jobs. The new, majority women owners modernized the mill, introduced sustainable forestry practices to their supply chain, implemented efficiency improvements that reduced harmful air emissions by 40%, and increased yield-per-tree to industry-leading levels.
